Boundless Book Club

Boundless Book Club is a virtual and in-person book club that inspires readers to explore new genres, step outside their comfort zones, and engage in meaningful discussions. Each month, the club selects three books from different genres, all tied together by a common theme. By offering incentives for reading across genres, the club encourages readers to break out of their usual reads and uncover new favorites.

In designing the visual identity, I wanted to capture the warmth of a beloved library or bookshop, while also introducing elements of whimsy and adventure. I achieved this by using a mix of starry accents, colors that felt both magical and comforting, reading inspired puns and illustrations that are meant to be laid back and inviting, and typography that blends vintage charm with a modern touch.

What I did

Logo Design

I designed the “b” in the logo to resemble a bookmark, reinforcing the brand’s connection to books. The addition of stars adds a touch of wonder and magic, much like the feeling of getting lost in a great story.

For the logo mark, I added a border that doubles as an unbound book to symbolize new opportunities, and a window framing a star in the sky, highlighting how books can transport readers to different worlds. This combination reflects the club’s mission to open doors to new perspectives through reading.

Color and Typography

The color palette was selected to feel warm, nostalgic, and creative. Beige and bronze evoke the comfort and familiarity of aged book pages and wooden library shelves. Teal blue represents friendliness, growth, and curiosity, making the brand feel welcoming. Purple injects a sense of imagination, curiosity, and a touch of the magic, reflecting the transformative power of reading.

For typography, I chose a sharp serif font that balances tradition with uniqueness. While serif fonts are often associated with books, this typeface adds a modern twist, helping the brand stand out and remain approachable.
